spain part one - magnificent madrid

Finally! Posts I'm quite thrilled to show you - my Spain trip which took place on August 7-22. There will be a sequence of post as usual cause I just can't miss any details!
So, I'll make a little introduction into the whole affair. A friend of mine, Natasha, long ago told me that our common friend Sahsa invites us to spend some time with him in Spain, where his parents have an apartment. You never ask twice when there's an opportunity to get some sea and tan, don't you? So we bought plane tickets, made visas and prepared the trip.
Our trip started one night when we came to an airport - our first stop was Prague for three hours because of a joint flight (on our way back we had more time and walked around the city) and than we came to Madrid where we had to catch a bus to our final destination, Torrevieja. A whole day of walking and exploring Madrid was beyond, we actually forgot the map at the baggage lock so just wandered in the city.
What are my impressions about Madrid? Mixed actually. From one side, everyone's raving about Barcelona, and I personally think I also like it more. But, from another side, Madrid is staid, beautiful and very relaxing (what I can't say about Barcelona). Heart of Spain in my heart, truly.

As I told before, we had no specific route, just moved from underground station called "Nuevos Ministerios" towards the city centre, and here's all we had seen on our way,

Giant flag!

We don't have any palm trees here in Moscow (and almost in the whole Russia) so it already felt like heaven.

Moving to Jardin del Buen Retiro.

This was a great place just to chill out, have a lunch and some rest.

I've decided that the whole post about Madrid will be too heavy so split it into two parts. Part to is coming very soon!

Btw, I've just reached 40 followers on my blog! I know for most bloggers here it's not a huge amount at all... but I'm so happy that there are 40 (!) people who like my hestic posts enough to subscribe! Yeey! Thanks you all guys! That means a lot for me, really!
