russian dance championship 2013

Project818 here! 1st May was a day of Russian Dance Championship, it is the second time it is held by Project818, about one hundred teams joined the competition, LA judges came to choose best of the best, and as usual, Project818 crew ruled the situation! My task is now traditional on such events - I am the main person at a dressing room. I know which team is on stage now and take control on the queue, cause no one has to miss it's perfomance.
This event is my favourite, you can rarely see so many talented dancers at one stage, huge inspiration for me! We've decided to make our own perfomance next time, when I see so many people dancing I have an urge to dance!

Mirazh Dance Family.

Doberman.

Girls Community.

Awesome presenter! You can't imagine how hot was it in the concert hall, he dances even better than some of the teams!

Judges: Ricky Lam, Amanda Grind, Michelle Jersey, Antoine Troupe, and David Moore!

Having some trouble with prizes...on the stage, oops.

The best crew!

unbelievable minsk

Hello guys! How are you doing? I'm dealing with my exams (again) but I have to say it is for the first time they are actually easy, had to learn for four years to reach this level!
Today I'm gonna tell about my Minsk trip, which was at the end of April. Last year I had a post about the Physicist's Day, important celebration in our University. Other universities, not only in Russia, also have their own Physicist's Days, and there's amazing tradition of "guests" - all these days are celebrated from the beginning of April till the end of May, and different universities gather together to have a celebration. Minsk's one is very popular among our University, and it happened that for three years I wasn't able to come, so it was my first DF at Minsk.
It was amazing, these three days were full of events, fun and new people, I'll never forget this! Let's begin from the start, and be ready to scroll - this post is going to be huge!

We came on Friday's early morning. On our first day we came to our appartments, there were contests, auction, hosts' consert at their faculty and party at the quay. Also, we had some time to walk around the city. Minsk is very clean, comparing to Moscow there are almost no people, prices are very low.

They have a lot of funny contests, where you can win badges, magnets and other small things - like shooting at teachers' photos, finding beer among mineral waters (at this photo) and others.

I *ghhhm* got married. It's a tradition (in our university as well) - physical registry office, where you can have a physical marriage. I have to claim that my marriage wasn't a free will. My "husband" just brought me to the place, although I tried to explain that I am too young to get married. Actually, we divorced the same day.

Inscription means "Faculty of Physics".

Another funny tradition is sealed-bid auction. They say only description of a lot, and usually the real thing is what you will never expect. We bought a lot called "Phoenix", and got this...jar filled with feathers and dust. They said "Here is your own phoenix, it will re-birth soon!" One more lot was a pink air-valve, and it was called "Everything will come out". So cool!

I am so positive.

On our second day we had guests' concert and a banquet.

On our way to the banquet.

A lot people there! Can you find me?

Third day was easy and more relaxed - everyone come to a special place in a forest to have a bbq and play sports. This year Physicist's Days happened to be a week earlier, so there still was snow there, I was lucky to take my gumboots with me!

I am very happy that I came there, I met lots of nice people, these three days were great, can't wait till next year to come again!

talia favia @ project818

One more wonderful workshop by Project818! This time it was amazing Talia Favia with contemporary classes, can't experss how awesome she is!
This was my first time on contemporary class, and I liked it a lot, This style is slow, but you feel every move and express it. Usually you dance it barefeet, the less clothes the best. What is a huge minuse is that you roll and fall a lot, so my knees and elbows were bruisy-blue afterwards, but I do not regret at all.

Probably you can (or you can't) notice me at the back. I am too shy to stand in front cause I'm not that great dancer as I would like to. Also, cause I'm not just dancing but working, my help may be needed anytime, so it is not a good idea to stand on front where I cannot be found.

I do like this photo, because there I do completely NOT what I had to do, but my hair look great. My dance motto: "Hair are noticable, shake it all the time!" haha :)

Warm atmosphere Talia created.

Me and Talia!

saint petersburg day 2

Let me continue with my Saint Petersburg trip!
Our second day started not very early, cause on the first day, after all formal events we also had a party - Moscow and Saint Petersburg astronomers, that was cool!
I had a "list" of things I wanted to visit at Saint Petersburg since my last visit there. Well, didn't manage everything I wanted, but now I have a reason to come back!

The main aim was to visit Saint Isaac's Cathedral, cause the last time it was already closed. It is one of the highest building at the city centre, and the view from it's colonnade is amazing! There I have to mention that I have a light form of agoraphobia, it's when you are scared if wide-open spaces. For me it also includes phobia of height, I feel vertigo every time I am on a high floor, and have to wait about ten minutes to calm down. But I really wanted to visit the colonnade, there are no elevators, so you have to take about 200 steps by small spiral stairs and then have to take open stairs right to the colonnade - that was so scary for me! I told my friend Tigran that if I'll start to fall down, he must be ready to catch!
View from the colonnade to the square in front of Saint Isaac's Cathedral.

Amazing view on the Vasilyevsky Island and the port! I madly want to visit the port next time I'll be at Saint Petersburg!

Inside Saint Isaac's Cathedral - very beautiful! Also, if you go round it, you can find a place on the stairs with the marks of German projectiles from Second World War.

Our next stop was to visit Kunstkamera, it is the first museum in Russia. Established by Peter the Great and completed in 1727, the Kunstkammer Building hosts the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography. Inside it is very interesting, but, well, the most interesting part is anotomical - different human abnormalities and rarities. Actually, it is prohibited to take photos there... and I was told it in the beginning but forgot about it. Serious lady from the museum was furious :)

After that we were walking on the Neva river! It was frozen, and ice is so thick that you can almost take a walk from one island to another! That is totally crazy, my agoraphobious brain was mad :) That was not right for it to walk there normally you can't! Also you can see Palace Bridge, which is currently under construction. It's one of that bridges which a drawn by night at summer.

I had to make a proof that we were actually walking on Neva river ice!

After that we just had a meal and headed to the train station, Moscow greated us with a snowstorm and half meter of snow on the roads, ohh... That was a great weekend, can't wait to come to my dream city once more!

saint petersburg day 1

Hello everyone!
Today I've passed my first exam, Numerical Methods. I got an A, but it was totally awful. I'm a neurotic type, and anxious stomach ache is a normal thing before an exam or any other important day for me. Usually I come an hour before an exam actually starts to calm down. Well, today was my own record, cause I felt sick starting from yesterday evening. When it came to asking me, I guess I've scared teacher with my light-green face :) He was very soft and nice with me, like he was afraid I will faint away. Well, everything for the good!

At the end of March I had a weekend-trip to Saint Petersbutg. Except Dubna, Saint Petersburg is my favourite city in the whole Russia. It's old, beautiful, gives you a really special feeling. Also, there are a lot of big and small rivers, water, what I am used to. I love it, although I've been there only once three years ago.
The reason for me to come was an equinox. Astronomers from Moscow State University and asronomers from Saint Petersburg State University are actually friends, and on autumn equinox they meet at Moscow, and on spring one they meet at Saint Petersburg. I am a cosmologist, but actually it's a really close to astronomy branch of physics. I have a lot of friends at astronomy department (including my Polina), so they asked me if I want to go. Of course I do!
We stayed there for two days, first day was some events at the university and second day was just walking and visiting some places I've planned to.

Saturday morning, coming to Saint Petersburg. Russian train, haha! That was not my place, fortunately, but Polina's. While I felt totally warm and slept tight, she had to sleep wearing her coat, omg. Actually, on that weekend weather there was much better than in Moscow! Coming back was a huge disappointment.

S-Pb is a city of wonderful small confectioneries. All different, food is amazing at every one!

Heaven berry tart at Metropol.

Singer house.

Church of the Savior on Blood. Has to be added to my "What-to-visit-at-Saint-Petersburg-next-time" list.

Saint Isaac cathedral. We visited it on Sunday, I'll show it at my next post!

Palace Square, heart of Saint Petersburg. I have no proper photos of Hermitage Museum, but it is just in front if this building. I also have to visit it next time, such a priceless amount of art at one building!

Polina found a nice photo of me at the Saint Petersburg University. There were some events considering equinox - funny traditional stuff, I've enjoyed it a lot - pseudoscientific conference, choosing queen of astronomy (oh yeah!) and others. Also, I've met some awesome people!

At the end of the "program" we had a procession through the forest with fires. It was just like in childhood - snowfights and tobogganing! We were all wet but totally happy!

8 march

If you've nevere heard about that, in Russia and some other countries 8th of March is celebrated as International Women's Day, although it is not that international. Men have to be real gentelmen this day and a lot of flowers are bought for loved people. As for me, this 8th of March was nice and easy, I spent it with my family at the restraunt and got some lovely presents. Take a look!

Day started with some fresh tulips which are traditional flowers on Women's Day. It is always nice and funny when my brother and father are preparing to make a surpsise and get up really early to get some flowers.

My Pandora bracelet got some new charms! First af all, it's a charm with Brandenburg Gate as a memory for my Germany (and Berlin) trip last summer. Also, there are two new green murano glass charms and two Heartsease flower charms. Starting with three charms only, now my bracelet looks much more beautiful.

I got a pajama and lovely slippers from Etam form my Mom. As far as I remember, I haven't buy any pajamas for two years at least, cause my Mom is on duty of that X).

"Oh, hey, what are you doing here?". Love my cats.

I like everything considering hairstyle, and for some time I've even thought of taking stylist courses (it's pretty expensive unfortunately). So I were really glad to get a book aboud braids from my brother. Now I have short hair and not all the braids are possible with it, but when I'm in a mood to make a hairstyle, I always find a victim - Mom or my roommate. If it will be possible, I'll show you the result from this book.
